Anaergia provides solutions for municipalities to recover more renewable base load power or from municipal solid waste than conventional solutions.
Unlike traditional waste to energy systems that combust waste or product gases, Anaergia generates renewable energy from the biogenic fraction of waste using internal combustion engines. This improves net electrical efficiency and substantially reduces greenhouse gases.
Also unlike mass burn or mass gasification systems, Anaergia does not gasify or combust waste streams before maximizing the recovery of recyclables including plastics, papers and metals. Anaergia provides higher recyclable recovery rates and lowered emissions through the recovery of halogenated plastics and volatile metals .
Heat recovered during the electricity generation process further reduces greenhouse gases and fossil fuel consumption as the heat can be used to generate steam or hot water that can be sold to local industry and businesses.
