~~PRESS RELEASE –
Anaergia’s db technologies and Partners to Design, Build, and Operate Innovative Municipal Solid Waste Facility for Limassol, Cyprus
Burlington, Ontario, Canada and Oldenzaal, Netherlands – August 6th, 2015 – Anaergia Inc. announced today that it’s subsidiary, db technologies BV, is a member of a consortium that signed a contract with the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Cyprus. Under the terms of this contract, the consortium will design, build and operate a facility for the sorting and processing of municipal solid waste (MSW) for the Region of Limassol.
Using proprietary technologies from the Anaergia group of companies, this facility will take in and process approximately 140,000 tons per year of unsorted MSW. As a result of separation to be achieved within this facility, about half of the mixed waste will be segregated as materials suitable for recycling, and most of the the remainder will be transformed into other useful materials.
Equipment used in this facility will include the exclusive OREX™ system that extracts organic waste from MSW, and also recyclable sorting equipment, that will result in state-of-the-art operations. This facility will also feature unique bio drying technologies from Anaergia Integrated Waste Solutions, as well as proven best in class technologies from Anaergia Integrated Waste Solutions GmbH and UTS Products GmbH, another part of the Anaergia Group of companies.
This facility is expected to be constructed and in operation before the end of 2016, and db technologies and it’s consortium partners will then operate and maintain it for a period of 10 years.
“We are excited to install and operate our proven OREX™ system on the island of Cyprus. The residents of Limassol will benefit from the best technology for recycling and reusing materials from unsorted municipal solid waste.” said Mr. Karl Dirkes, Managing Director of db technologies BV.
“Anaergia's proven technologies have tremendous value for the MSW industry. We are pleased and proud to be working with our consortium partners in Cyprus to demonstrate the effectiveness of Anaergia’s comprehensive solutions that make economic sense and also positively impact the environment.” said Dr. Andrew Benedek, CEO of Anaergia Inc.
