Mr. Steve Snyder was formerly the President and CEO of TransAlta Corporation for a 15 year term from 1996 to 2011. During his leadership, TransAlta significantly increased its generation capacity, built a highly successful Energy Trading business, delivered top quartile industry operating performance, and consistently had one of the strongest P/E ratios among its peers. By 2011, TransAlta owned 70 power plants, generated $3 billion in annual revenue and had $9 billion in assets. It also was consistently named to the Jantzi list of Canada’s 50 most responsible corporations and was the only Canadian company in the utilities sector to make the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. In 2010, Mr. Snyder was named Canadian Energy Person of the Year by the Energy Council of Canada.
